9/11/2001-Reflections in the Sky.

9/11/2001 started off like any normal school day. The sky was a beautiful, deep, bright blue.

It was the kind of blue, that happens only every now and then. It was a warm, sunny morning. I was a sophomore in high school.

My first class of the day was gym. That day, we went outside and played catch with a football on the field. Our school is slightly set on a hill, so I looked out into our city below. I have no idea what time it was, but I saw a huge commercial aircraft flying pretty low. (still have no idea if it contributed to the attacks.)

Soon, it was time to go back inside and get changed for the rest of the day. The next class I had was math. Around 1030am, our principal came over the loudspeaker and told us that a plane had hit the World Trade Center. He said he didn't know the extent of it, but it seemed like an accident. 13 minutes later, class was over and I was off to lunch. I had choir right after lunch, so I went to put my backpack in the band room. In there, a tv was on but it was very fuzzy/blurry so you could barely see.

I went to lunch. I ate lunch and rumors started to swirl around. After lunch, my friends and I headed up to the choir room. Everyone was starting to come in, and a tv had been placed in the center of the room with the news on. There, I found out that we had been attacked. I watched in horror over and over again as the images came up on the screen.

Some of my friends were dismissed early by their parents. My mom chose to kept me in school. I took the bus home, walked in the door and I don't remember what I even said to my mom. I called my best friend who lived up the street from me and told her I was coming over.

As I walked, I looked up at the bright blue sky. Thinking about all the people that had passed away. Slightly scared that I might see something I didn't like.

That night, my friend and I attended a vigil some of her neighbors put together. We held candles, said prayers and just about the lives lost.

The next day in school, we had our own reflection .We continued to watch tv and talk about it all day long. It was on our minds countlessly like so many Americans.

A couple nights later,  I watched a documentary on it. These two brothers had come to document a fire station in lower Manhattan. One of the brothers was inside the towers when it collasped. Images of smoke filled the camera, the body of the Rev who had passed away lay on the screen.

One of the most horrific things I remember, is in the documentary, they were inside one of the towers. All you heard was this creepy bang, bang, bang noise every now and then. The brothers said it was the noise of people jumping, hitting a piece of the tower that had already fallen off. Every now and then I still hear that noise and I never want to hear it again.

The attacks left a piece of everyone's heart hurt. Still to this day, heart's are hurting. Thank you to the men and women who still serve us, battling for our freedom from this terriosts. Thank you to the families that have shared their incredible stories about love, hope and lost.

10 years ago today, a horrific terriost attack breached our nation. Over 3,000 people died. But today, we can proudly say, without a doubt, that we are ONE NATION, UNDER GOD.

9/11/2001-Never Forget.
